Tips for Incorporating Alone Time & Relaxation into Your Life from a Local Youngstown Online Therapist

As a mom, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily responsibilities, often putting your own needs last. However, carving out alone time and moments of relaxation is essential for your mental health and overall well-being. Want to stop feeling irritated, on edge, and guilty around your family? It may start with a few tiny steps, and as you get used to being away and prioritizing your own needs, it gets easier.

As a therapist specializing in working with moms, I suggest starting small. The first step is to schedule just 10-15 minutes each day for a peaceful activity you enjoy, such as:

  • Reading a book for fun

  • Taking a walk while chatting with a friend

  • Listening to a podcast

  • Practicing deep breathing exercises

  • Focusing on visualizations

At the start, alone time and relaxation may not even be outside of the house- that’s ok and totally normal! Once you’ve mastered setting aside the time and really taking it, you can expand your solo time to wherever you’d like.
