Frequently asked questions.

What do sessions cost?

Your initial consultation call is free and lasts 15-30 minutes.

Sessions are $200 for a 55 minute session.

I do offer a limited number of sliding scale slots.

Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept Aetna insurance.

If you do not have Aetna, I am able to provide you with a superbill (a printout that shows what you paid/for what service) that you can use for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. I am considered “out of network” for all insurance providers.

What happens in the consultation call?

First we’ll chat via secure video for 15-30 minutes. During this consultation, we’ll see if we’re a good match and I’ll answer any questions you may have. I’ll ask you about what brings you to therapy at this time (why now? What’s going on in your life? What changes would you like to see?)

Then if both parties agree, we’ll schedule you for your first session where I’ll ask a bit more about you, your family history, upbringing and what you’d most like out of therapy.

What's the cancellation policy?

I understand that our schedules change and there may be times you simply cannot make it in for your session. You may cancel up to 4 sessions per calendar year without paying the session fee as long as you provide 48 hours notice. If you cancel any sessions beyond those 4 for any reason, you will be responsible for the cancellation fee of $200.

Late cancellations are sessions canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled session time. You will be responsible for the full fee of $200. These would not count toward your 4 free cancellations. You are welcome to explore options for rescheduling or making up a session.

If you are traveling, ill, or otherwise can’t make it to a scheduled session, you are able to reschedule an appointment based on both of our schedules (instead of canceling). A rescheduled appointment within the time frame of 48 hours will NOT count toward your 4 free cancellations. If you are not able to attend or find a mutual time to reschedule the session, then this WILL count toward one of your 4 free cancellations. Payment is due at the time of your regularly scheduled session. If I am not able to attend a session, you will NOT be charged the fee.

How do I pay for sessions?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover are acceptable methods of payment as well as most FSAs/HSAs. I encourage clients to set up autopay through their client portal which will automatically bill the card on file for the session rate after completion of session. All receipts available through your client portal.

How does virtual therapy work?

You’ll get a link sent to either your email or through a text (you’ll let me know your preference) and you’ll click it! As long as you have a reliable internet connection, we’ll be able to connect and see each other via video.

Ideally, you’ll be in a place that feels safe and secure and offers privacy while we’re in session. (You’ll also need to physically be located in Ohio or New York, where I’m licensed).

Telehealth does pose some potential risks including possible interruption to connection, technical difficulties and unauthorized access.

I use Simple Practice for all my video/telehealth/client communications which is HIPAA compliant and a secure method of conducting therapy.

What are your hours?

I see clients Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30a-4:30 for 55 minute sessions. I also schedule EMDR Intensive sessions from Tuesday through Saturday, we can arrange times that work for us both.

Who can benefit from EMDR?

Short answer: so many people! Long answer: EMDR is essentially a faster, gentler way of addressing trauma. Trauma can look different depending on your definition. Some folks have experienced isolated big events that were scary, horrific, painful or evoked other strong sensations, emotions and beliefs about themselves and the world. Some folks grew up with what they would describe as a “typical” childhood, nothing standing out and yet they don’t feel valued as a person or struggle with accepting themselves. Either scenario is painful, and everyone deserves to heal. EMDR can work with so many presentations/issues that I haven’t personally encountered someone in my practice that wouldn’t benefit. If you live in Ohio or New York, schedule a free call with me and learn more about how EMDR could work for you.

Who do you see?

I work with adult individuals (not couples or families, also not kids).  I find that I work best with moms or other adults who feel like they aren’t enough, like they always need to be “on” and doing or achieving because that’s what they’ve gotten used to in their lives (not necessarily because they like it this way). If you would describe yourself as someone who is anxious, a people pleaser, an avoider of conflict, then you are someone I’d like to work with!

Do you see clients all over the country?

I am licensed in Ohio and New York so I can only see folks who are in one of those 2 states (at the time of session).
